Ohio State Vintage Mirror Lake with Island , Columbus Download Image

While I was looking through old Ohio State images at the Library of Congress, several were of Mirror Lake taken around 1905. But the detail in one was particularly charming.

Mirror Lake used to have an island, but it has been gone a long time.

This image is from the Library of Congress. As you may know, the Library has thousands of public domain photographs available for use. However, many require photo editing skills to “clean up” and produce printable images.

I’ve been doing just that for several years as a way of further developing my photo editing skills. The selection of images in this collection are ones that have caught my attention and the nominal charge is to help recoup some of the cost of the computer equipment along the way.

Photos are JPG format and will produce an 11x17 inch print at 300 dpi. You’ll need some type of imaging software such as Photoshop, iPhoto, etc. to print.
