This is another of my favorite images from the Gettysburg Battlefield.

As a photographer, my goal is to capture Gettysburg images that are compelling in their own right, not simply because of the battle. These boulders make a rugged, black and white image that stands alone.

Devil’s Den is where brutal fighting took place late in the afternoon of the second day at the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863.

Confederate General John B. Hood’s troops swarmed over these boulders to attack Union forces along Little Round Top and the Wheatfield. So many men were wounded or killed that Plum Run (behind the camera location) became known as the Valley of Death.

Prints 11x14 and larger may be drop-shipped directly from FinerWorks, a company specializing in fine art and high quality photographic printing.

Prints typically have a 1-inch additional white border around the image to allow for a better fit in pre-cut mats. If you do not want a border, please specify in the buyer's comments and the image will be printed borderless.

The watermark and frame do not appear in the final print.
